DIY Airfilter

Paul van der Wouwer over at the Belgian/Dutch MonoForum posted an article on how to make a new K&N for the Skorpion from a Standard K&N car filter.

Posted in English on the http://www.mzriders.com/ forum by Bill Jurgenson. Thanks chaps!

You need a K&N filter for a HONDA civic crx, 85'-87' nr;33-2021.

Honda filter

You will get two inserts from this.

Clean out original MZ frame

Trim a piece of the Honda filter to fit and "glue" it into to the cleaned frame with a good petrol resistance silicon adhesive.

Finished

I’ve also heard of this being done with a section cut from a Citroën Visa filter and glued in place using a hot glue gun. Doing it this way means that you can replace the filter element by melting the glue with a heat gun.

I suppose you could do this with any filter element that could be cut to size – Usual caveats apply!!

K&N canister filters

You can replace the airbox and filter with a pair of K&N canister type filters. Part nos: RC-1820 and RC-1250. See: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=RC-1820 and http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=RC-1250

UK importer’s website has a ‘search’ function for finding suppliers: http://www.knfilters.co.uk/

Bear in mind that the carbs will almost certainly need to be rejetted, and you’re on your own there!

(If anyone does this successfully, please send in details).
